Delayed Flight

Digit Insurance will pay the Sum Insured If your common carrier’s actual departure time is delayed by more than the duration (as specified in your
policy) from the scheduled departure time, for any of the following reasons.

What is covered

  1. Delay of a Scheduled Common Carrier caused by Inclement Weather.
  2. Delay due to a sudden Strike or any other action by employees of the Common Carrier.
  3. Delay caused by equipment failure of the Common Carrier
  4. Delay caused by operational problem at the Common Carrier end like crew/staff scheduling issues
  5. Cancellation or rescheduling of flights done at the instance of the Common carrier that causes delay

What is not covered

  1. Anything mentioned in the General Exclusions section.
  2. Any delay, which was made public or known to You at least 6 hours prior to the scheduled departure of the Common Carrier.
  3. Any delay caused due to change in laws, regulations or orders issued by the respective Government or the regulating authority which was publicly announced.
  4. Strikes or labor disputes which existed, or of which advance warning had been given in Public prior to the date on which the insured trip was scheduled.
  5. Delay due to the permanent withdrawal of services of any Common Carrier by its management orshareholders due to any reason whatsoever which was publicly announced.

Terms & Conditions

  1. Digit Insurance will use Scheduled/Actual departure time of Common Carrier as recorded by independent external agency for determining the admissibility of claim.
  2. Any claim must be supported by documentary evidence that you had reached the port of scheduled departure on time e.g. security stamped boarding pass.
  3. The time excess for trigger of claim is shown on your policy schedule. In case the delay is more than the duration specified in the policy schedule we will pay the full Sum Insured.

Flight Cancelled - Cancellation of Common Carrier by Operator (UIN: GODTGOA22173V012122)

If your flight is cancelled by the Flight Operator, Digit Insurance will pay you benefit as mentioned in below table:

Conditions

  1. Cancellation of flight should be only at the instance of Flight Operator
  2. This Section is valid only for travel by above mentioned Flight Operators viz., Vistara/Spice-jet/Go-air/Air-Asia/Air-India/Indigo
  3. You have to inform the incidence of flight cancellation within 48 hours of such cancellation.
  4. Benefit under this Section can be availed only once per passenger per plan.

What is not covered

  1. Written confirmation from Flight operator regarding cancellation of the flight is not provided and/or is not clear.
  2. In case written confirmation from Flight operator is found to be false/edited/tampered
  3. Cancellation of the flight is not made by the flight operator
  4. Flight is cancelled by the Flight Operator owing to Flight Operator declaring Bankruptcy will not be covered
  5. Cancellation of flight owing to Government action will not be covered. Eg. flights cancelled due to pandemic
  6. Flight Operator offers an alternate flight to the same destination city within 6 hours of original scheduled flight.

When and How Do I Get the Benefit?

  1. You have to submit Flight Cancellation communication from the Flight operator.
  2. Once documents shared by You are verified, an SMS/ Email will be sent to You for you to confirm mode of receiving benefit.

Missed Flight (UIN: GODTGOA22173V012122)

If You are not able to board the flight due to “Delay in Arrival at the Airport”, then we will reimburse the additional expenses incurred in booking new flight tickets (“Benefit” under this Section III). Such benefit shall be subject to a maximum of upto INR 2000 and shall be payable subject to the following:

Conditions

  1. Once flight is missed, you will have to purchase the tickets for next flights within 4 hours of your original Scheduled departure time, to avail benefit under this offer.
  2. Next flight should be of same sector/same Flight Operator Class/same passenger
  3. Next Flight's scheduled departure time should be within 24 hours of original scheduled departure time
  4. The booking date and time of the new flight should be later than the original flight’s date and time.
  5. You have to inform the incidence of missed flight within 48 hours of the original flight’s date and time.
  6. Only one claim will be payable per passenger per plan

Benefit amount shall not be payable in case

  1. This offer is not valid if new flight is at earlier or same date and time than the original flight’s date and time.

When and How Do I Get the Benefit?

  1. You have to submit Missed Flight certificate from the Flight Operator or alternatively get a seal on the ticket or boarding pass confirming that you have missed your Flight.
  2. You will have to furnish proof of new booking along with invoice and ticket copy.
  3. Once documents shared by You are verified, an SMS/ Email will be sent to You for you to confirm mode of receiving benefit.

Delay in Checked - in Baggage (UIN: GODTGOP18045V011718)

For the purpose of this Section: Baggage means and includes Trolley Bags, Bag packs, Rucksacks, Suitcases, duffle bags, Air Bag, which are checked-in Baggage.

If Your checked-in Baggage is delayed by more than 4 hours from the expected time of delivery by the flight operator, we will pay upto INR 2000 benefit amount for replacement/provision of essential items subject to the following:

Conditions

  1. In case more than 1 of your checked-in baggage are delayed by more than 4 hours from the expected time of delivery by the flight operator, then the benefit amount shall be INR 2000 benefit amount.
  2. If there are more than 1 passengers in the PNR, then this benefit will be payable to only 1 passenger and it will not be paid individually to each passenger.
  3. Only one claim will be payable per plan
  4. You have to inform the incidence of Interruption in checked-in Baggage within 48 hours of such delay.
  5. In case flight itself is delayed, then the delay of baggage will be considered from the time of actual arrival of the flight.

Benefit amount shall not be payable in case

  1. Delay arising from any detention, confiscation by customs officials or other public authorities is not covered.

When and How Do I Get the Benefit?

  1. You have to get Baggage delay certificate from the Flight Operator mentioning the number of hours of delay after actual arrival of flight on scheduled airport.
  2. Once documents shared by You are verified, an SMS/ Email will be sent to You for you to confirm mode of receiving benefit.

Damage of Checked - in Baggage (UIN: GODTGOA22173V012122)

For the purpose of this Section: Baggage means and includes Trolley Bags, Bag packs, Rucksacks, Suitcases, duffle bags, Air Bag, which are checked-in Baggage.

If Your Baggage is damaged while in the custody of the Flight Operator, we will pay the cost of getting the baggage repaired subject to maximum of INR 2000 and subject to the following

Conditions

  1. Proof of damage from the Flight Operators is required
  2. Only one claim will be payable per passenger per plan
  3. You have to inform the incidence of Baggage damage within 48 hours of such damage.

Benefit amount shall not be payable in case

  1. Any Pre-existing damage to baggage will not be covered
  2. Any item which falls outside the definition of baggage is not covered
  3. Damage to any content within/inside the checked in Baggage is not covered

When and How Do I Get the Benefit?

  1. You have to get baggage damage certificate from the Flight Operator mentioning the baggage was damaged in the custody of flight operator.
  2. Once documents shared by You are verified, an SMS/ Email will be sent to You for you to confirm mode of receiving benefit.

Diverted Flight - Flight Diversion Cover UIN: (GODTGOA22173V012122)

Digit Insurance will pay You upto INR 3000 as benefit in case the flight is diverted to a different city other than the scheduled arrival city subject to the following:

Conditions

  1. Flight needs to be diverted to an “airport” located in a different city.
  2. You have to inform the incidence of flight diversion within 48 hours of such diversion.
  3. Benefit under this Section can be availed only once per passenger per plan.

Benefit amount shall not be payable in case

  1. The Flight Operator had declared/confirmed/inform about diversion of the flight to a different city before flight take off.
  2. Flight diversion was temporary and flight took off again from diverted city to scheduled arrival city without passengers being asked to de-board the flight at the diverted airport.

When and How Do I Get the Benefit?

  1. You have to submit the proof of flight diversion to Digit Insurance.
  2. You have to get Flight diversion communication from the operator.
  3. Once documents shared by You are verified, an SMS/ Email will be sent to You for you to confirm mode of receiving benefit.

Personal Accident (UIN: GODTGOP18045V011718)

If you suffer an accidental bodily injury during your trip which requires urgent and immediate medical attention that leads solely, directly and independently to your:

  1. Death
  2. Permanent Total Disability
  3. Permanent Partial Disability

Digit Insurance will pay you benefit as mentioned below.

Permanent Total Disability INR 50,000
Permanent Partial Disability INR 50,000

Conditions:

  1. The death or disability must happen within one year from the date of the accident.
  2. If an insured person dies as a result of bodily injury, any amount already claimed and paid under permanent total disability or partial permanent disability will be deducted from the payment under accidental death.
  3. The benefit will be paid to you or your legal representative. If you die, the benefit will be paid to the nominee appointed by you or your legal heir.
  4. If more than 1 disablement are sustained due to the same accident, the amount payable shall be arrived at by adding together the various percentages shown in the table of benefits for corresponding disablements but shall not exceed the Sum Insured against this Cover.

Benefit amount shall not be payable in case:

  1. Any claim for sickness, disease, bodily or mental infirmity, nervous shock or naturally occurring condition or degenerative process, and not occurred as a result of an accident.
  2. Amounts related to medical or Surgical treatment
  3. Any Claim arising while you are riding as a fare paying passenger in or on a common carrier or boarding or alighting from a common carrier.

When and How Do I Get the Benefit?

  1. Contact our 24-hour Medical Emergency Assistance helpline immediately.
  2. You will have to submit Preliminary medical report describing the nature and extent of all injuries and diagnosis.
  3. Death certificate (where applicable)
  4. PTD/PPD (disability) certificate from the doctor (where applicable)

General Exclusions applicable for all Sections

  1. There will be no payment towards any indirect, consequential, incidental loss, damage or injury suffered by You.
  2. Claims resulting from any tour operator, travel agent, airline or other service provider becoming insolvent and not being able or willing to carry out any part of their duty to you.
  3. Any claim resulting from a tropical disease / contagious disease where you have not had the recommended inoculations and /or taken the recommended medication as per the government advisory issued by the country where You are travelling.
  4. In respect of travel by the Insured to any country against whom the Republic of India has imposed general or special travel restrictions, or any country which has imposed such restrictions against travel by a citizen of the Republic of India to such country.
